SIEMENS FABRIC

DATA VISUALISATION AND ILLUSTRATION

CLIENT: First Pencil / Siemens

I was commissioned by the production company First Pencil to illustrate a range of complex layered data maps of Spandau Berlin, Cape Town South Africa, and the United Arab Emirates for the Siemens FABRIC project. These fabric designs are complex visual interpretations of data patterns such as transport, zoning, population density, communications infrastructure and water works, layered onto one another, resulting in a rich and complex tactile design.

The unveiling of the Spandau map was held during the Berlin Fashion Week. The map illustration was transformed into clothing by renowned fashion designer Vladimir Karaleev.

The 3D renderings of the designs were provided by First Pencil.

The fabric designs are visual interpretations of data patterns such as transport, zoning, population density, communications infrastructure and water works, studied, visually reinterpreted and then layered onto one another.
